| Comment | company seat sounds like a Germanism location is ok, but maybe a bit blurry.
it can be important to differentiate between Hauptverwaltung, and Firmensitz. large companies, or companies with their Firmensitz in the Bahamas, for tax-avoidance reasons, will have their Hauptverwaltung at a different address to their Firmensitz.
Hauptverwaltung is the administrative HQ, to set off from say, operative HQ, or financial HQ, and it would be inexact to use HQ in general, where a differentiation could be important. a major supermarket chain, for instance, could have it's operational HQ integrated into its main store in Hamburg, say, the administrative HQ in an office block a continent away, and its financial HQ in London.
to sum up - Firmensitz and Hauptverwaltung are not synonymous in German, and not in English. company location i'd suggest for Firmensitz Head Office or admin./oper./finan. Headquarters for the Hauptverwaltung/Finanzverwaltung if there is a German equivalent for operative HQ let me know!! |
