    Schreibt man das auf deutsch nicht mit sch - (herum)wurschteln? Bzw. wie spricht man die Nur-s-Version aus, genauso?

    holger: Geht beides. Im Schwabenland natürlich nur "wurschteln", aber das ist eine andere Geschichte. Wenn Du sichergehen willst, dass "wurschteln" so ausgesprochen wird, würde ich es auch so schreiben. Sonst weischt Du nie ...

    Also ersteinmal besten Dank für die Unterstützung beim wursteln (lt. meinem Duden leider nur mit -st-). Als Norddeutscher macht mir das auch egal, wir wursteln auch ohne -sch-.
    Mir gefällt der <b>sausaging around</b> Ansatz sehr gut, als ich initial über diese Version nachdachte, habe ich dann doch in Erwägung gezogen das leo-Forum zu kontaktieren.

    My German isn't the best, but from the context, I would offer the following:


    To me, puttering around means you are busy doing different things. Putzing around is similar. And tinkering has the connotation of having some kind of project, maybe fixing something, or building something as a hobby.

    Die Verben „wursteln /herumwursteln“ und „durchwursteln“ haben unterschiedliche Bedeutungen.

    I basically agree with missmiddlemarch, but just want to point out that putter around is AE. In BE we say to potter around or to potter about.
