    Die Folie 42 ist vorzugsweise in sich geschlossen, um einen schlauchförmigen Tubus zu bilden.

    Gemeint ist ja wohl, das die Folie an den Längsseiten geschlossen ist und so einen Schlauch formt. Wie kann das wohl am besten ausgedrückt werden, ohne vom Originaltext abzuweichen?

    Es handelt sich hier um einen Patentantrag, wo ich so nah am Originaltext bleiben muss wie nur möglich. Eine 1:1 Übersetzung wäre am besten, falls es sie gibt.

    "In sich geschlossen" is what's wrong here - that is clearly "self-contained" but I think it's the wrong term for the German version. What is really meant (I think) is that the Film 42 is rolled up and sealed so as to form a hose-like tube.
