you don't want to put "always" between "try" and "to be there"

Take your pick!

I think it would be churlish to say it changes the meaning, although hair-splittingly it does. But I think most people would understand it as intended.

I think only the grammar police are constantly concerned about split infinitives. They are very common in everyday speech and writing, though they should probably be avoided in very formal contexts.
