Literally it means "someone who flies high can fall deep"

Is there a similar English proverb?

Who flies high falls far (not "deep")

    is a possible translation.

I know of know true equivalent in English.

Hat in etwa den selben Sinn und ist etwas idiomatischer

There are probably several standard phrases that seem somewhat similar to schwepsi's proverb yet are not really the same. Felixa's proposal is one of those.
