    Randnummer, abgekürzt Rdn. oder Rd. wird v.a. in juristischen Zitaten häufig verwendet.

    Z.B. Palandt, § 16, Rn. 12.

    Es gibt jede Menge Forumsbeiträge, die eine englische Übersetzung angeben - paragraphs, marginal notes etc. - aber nirgends findet sich ein Hinweis darauf, wie es im englischen in einem Zitat abgekürzt wird.

    Schreibe ich: nr., no. oder para. oder etwas ganz anderes?

    Thanks a lot - but I am looking for an abbreviation that I can use in footnotes (like Rdn. in the German example). Is there a common abbreviation for "marginal notes"?

    No, not as far as I know. Which is why I tend to use 'marginal number' in full, when I translate the German Rdnr.
