I am looking for something like a proverb that is related to a match (football). It's supposed to show how the players stay positive no matter what. If they've lost a match, so what? There will be a next opportunity and they are going to train for it even harder. To my ears "Life goes on" sounds too serious for my purpose.
    But thank you!

Well, we have "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," but that doesn't really fit.

I have heard people say (AE) some thing like: "Today is tomorrow's yesterday" meaning whatever is difficult today will eventually be just history but by no stretch of the imagination is this a saying.

SuggestionThe next season starts after the last out of this season. [sport.][fig.]

My translation is looking at the saying from a seasonal perspective, but it better captures the meaning behind the saying. In baseball, for example, commentators will often look at the last game of the season (whether consequential or not) and say that the next season starts tomorrow, despite the long layoff. In essence, the end of one game/season means the start of preparations for the next one.
