    Entspricht nicht der Wahrheit

    Sources
Angenommen ich habe viel Geld,... (was aber nicht der Wahrheit entspricht)

wie würde man das übersetzen? Vielleicht: "which doesnt come up to the truth"? Bin mir da sehr unsicher.

Danke schon mal im Vorraus. :)

Literally, it's "does not correspond to reality," which I think is a pretty good translation here.

which is, of course, not true
which doesn't jive with the truth

Sammy's suggestions are freer, but accurate. I would just point out that "jibe" is the most common spelling for the word in the second example (though a lot of people do say "jive").

    jibe 2 (jb)
