@w: Iknow "bouncer", but these people are supposed to talk up potential customers out on the sidewalk and get them to come in. That's not quite the same.

Ein K o b e r e r (vom hanseatischen ankobern für anwerben) ist ein Türsteher oder Portier, der Kunden von der Straße zum Besuch eines Amüsierlokals (Nachtclub, Sex-Club, Strip-Lokal usw, übel beleumdetes Lokal) auffordert.
Die dabei gewählte Form der Kundenansprache ist oft deftig bis obszön und häufig aggressiv.

@w: I understand what a Koberer is - as I explained in my initial posting - but I'm not quite sure that "bouncer" is exactly right, as he is not luring people into the club but keeping those out who might cause trouble or throwing those out who already have caused trouble - and that's not the same!
So what now?

Das Thema hast Du uns schon vorgelegt unter "Kobern". Dabei kam raus, dass das Wort "koitieren" heißen kann, aber auch "Kuppelei betreiben".
Hier geht's dann (bei "Koberer") gewissermaßen um die, die die Kuppelei betreiben. Auf englisch heißt einer, der Kunden für eine Prostituierte anschafft, ein "pimp". Ob die das heißen, wenn sie direkt vor einem Lokal stehen, kann ich nicht sagen.

Könnte es ein "sex club tout" sein? Oder ein "promoter"?

Das ist das einzige, was ich gerade beim Googeln gefunden habe.

@ Philipp: I know, but this word keeps cropping up and I'm not happy with what I've found. Sorry! All these people do is enlist people, entice them, to come in and see the show. They don't bring prostitutes together with possible customers. Here, an excerpt to show you what I mean:
"Vor jeder Tabledance-Bar versuchen übrigens die sogenannten Koberer Gäste in das Lokal zu locken. Manche tragen Portierskleidung, andere... Straßenkleidung. Das braucht Sie nicht abzuschrecken, das ist eine alte hanseatische Tradition, "ankobern" bedeutet soviel wie anwerben".

Das ist GENAU diese Ankoberei, welche man auch auf der Reeperbahn als allein laufender Mensch (nicht für lange zu empfehlen!) ständig miterleben darf.

Vom Hörensagen weiß ich, dass so etwas auch in Urlaubsorten seit einigen Jahren vielfach gemacht wird, vor allem mit Lock-Coupons.

Und da dabei sehr aufdringlich geworben wird, sollte man genausogut auch "tout" dazu sagen können.
