"School leavers' party" would be quite inappropriate for America. It sounds like a translation. The (senior) prom is often the social highlight of life in an American high school.

I'm just not sure what type of school has their students leave after 10th grade? Certainly not an American high school, so it wouldn't be a senior prom.

    No American high school, huh?

And that senior prom happened in my neighborhood. But then what do I know :-)

@Helmi: why are you giving this link? And what do you mean? That school, as the link shows, goes all the way to 12th grade: Highest Grade Offered 12

So again, what American high school would let their kids leave after 10th grade?

@ dude, aha, now I'm getting out of the fog. I never read the original question with that "Zehntklässler" business. So forget everything I said.
    :-)))))))))
