Zwar seltsam ausgedrückt, aber das dürfte es heißen.

": : (By the way, when you smack someone "upside the head", which way do you strike? Up from below, or down from above? "Upside" doesn't exist in Britain; I have encountered it in American writing and wondered what it meant exactly.) VSD

    upside
1611, "upper side or surface," from up + side. Phrase upside (someone's) head in ref. to a blow to the head is recorded from 1970, U.S. black slang. http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=upside

In Hamburg the equivalent would be "Wenn du ihn ärgerst, wird er dir einer langen." Not sure about the spelling.

It is often not used literally. He may not smack you upside the head, but he will be mightily pissed off.

Danke allen für diesen munteren Start in den Tag.

Wenn wir schon dabei sind - würdet Ihr "... she will whomp your butt" auch etwa mit "sie haut dir die Hucke voll" übersetzen?

    Danke weiterhin für schlagkräftige Argumente,
