'Nonce borrowings' sind spontane Entlehnungen, die zwar morphologisch und syntaktisch von einer Sprache in die andere Sprache integriert werden, sie sind aber (noch) nicht in dieser Sprache üblich und weit verbreitet.
'Nonce borrowing' bezeichnet damit das Gegenteil von 'established loan word' (etabliertes Lehnwort)!

Im Deutschen wird 'nonce-borrowing' mit AD-HOC-ENTLEHNUNG übersetzt.

Der Begriff 'nonce borrowing' stammt von der Linguistin Shana Poplack:
"Nonce borrowings in the speech of bilinguals differ from established loanwords in that they are not necessarily recurrent, widespread, or recognized by host language monolinguals. With exstablished loanwords, however, they share the characteristics of morphological and syntactic integration into the host language and consist of single content words or compounds."
