    Subject

    Gegenteil von 'Self-confident'

Ich stehe gerade auf dem Schlauch, sowohl im Deutschen wie im Englischen - was ist denn das Gegenteil von 'selbstbewusst' bzw. 'self-confident'?

    Thanks, Sandra

"timid", "lacking in confidence", "unsure of oneself", "diffident" z.B.

self-conscious for "befangen" which is quite the opposite of "self-condident"

one of the trickiest trap a German native speaker could get into

    thanks, all!

'self-conscious' was the word I was looking for, although there is a discussion here in the forum that says something along the lines of both (self-conscious and self-confident') meaning the same.. ??

"self-conscious" and "self-confident" do not mean the same.

And "self-conscious" is not the opposite of "self-confident".
