    Hi. Ich würde gerne einem säumigen Kunden schreiben, dass ich es vorziehen würde, hier "keinen Anwalt einschalten zu müssen".

    To employ a lawyer erscheint mir unpassend. Wäre "I would prefer not to bring a lawyer on the case" OK?

    I hope that legal proceedings can be avoided

    I am sure that the situation can be resolved without having to commence legal proceedings

    Clearly I would rather resolve the situation without having to resort to involving lawyers

    etc.
