    Wortfigur, Satzfigur, Gedankenfigur, Klangfigur

    Context/ examples
    In classical rhetorics most often a binary dictinction is made between:
    Wortfiguren (figurae verborum) = schemes
    Gedankenfiguren (figurae sententiarum) = tropes

    Newer classifications add "Satzfiguren" and "Klangfiguren" as special cases for schemes, as far as I understand the matter.

    What are the respective English terms for these four notions?

    @hv: Ich kenne mich zwar wirklich nicht aus in der Materie, aber könnte man mit "pattern" arbeiten? sentence pattern, sound pattern?

    Hier sagen sie "figures of speech" und "figures of thoughts".

    "Klangfigur" und "Satzfigur" muß ich mal liegenlassen, weil ich für heute erstmal zusammenpacke...
