Als Deutscher sehe ich keine zwei Präpositionen bei "to be made up from". "up" wäre im Deutschen ein Präfix. Keine Ahnung, wie das auf Englisch heißt, sicher aber nicht "preposition". (google: ungefähr 94.200.000 für "came up in", z.B. Many issues came up in talks )

In English it's called a "phrasal verb" and consists of verb + adverb. But I would use "made up of", not "from". Actually, I would probably say or write the sentence differently.

Re #1: with the "of which", "made up of/from" sounds strange to me. I would write "First of all we need the individual ingredients from which our recipe is made"
-ingredients rather than contents (California 81's Zutaten)
-no "up" with this more formal construction
(very informal: "First of all we need the individual ingredients our recipe is made up of")
