Yes, you often hear "six foot tall". But "six feet tall" is correct.

My suggestion is to stick to the correct version and let native speakers use the incorrect version if they want to (or if they don't know any better).

lowkee, I wonder whether you heard precisely "I am six foot tall." I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that, or anything similar.

But it _would_ be acceptable to say "he is a six foot tall man" or "it is a six foot long board" or an "18 foot by 24 foot room", etc.

I'd say "I'm five foot nine" and *not* "I'm five feet nine". But I would say *either* "I'm six feet tall" or "I'm six foot tall".

Note that although Webster's only gives one example, it says both can be used with adjectives.
