Bin kein Kellner, so that takes care of "on". As far as "for" goes, it is optional.

I waited so long to meet her.
I waited for so long to meet her.

What is not so optional is the order of the words.

"You are the person I have waited for so long to meet" is correct, not "you are the person I have waited for to meet so long". The latter has "for" followed by an infinitive, which is never good....
