    "You've made it!" might work better, to show that he has got all the way to the end of the race.

    Ich würde "you did it" eher schreiben als "you have done it". In diesem Kontext aber eher "You made it!".

    Andere Ideen?

    @4 that's incorrect - surely 'you have it made' means 'you're really lucky' or something similar?

    Yes, it means the person is lucky to be still alive at retirement age or has enough financial resources to retire comfortably.

    I myself " have it made" :)) because Uncle Sam is sending my pension check every month.
