    Sorry for posting this again, but its really important for my assignment:

    Would you ever use "of course" in this context or could you imagine that a native speaker would use it like that?
    I think in this case "of course" can come across arrogant and snobbish(sth like "Yes of course I have been there,how can you ask me such a stupid question") and a native speaker would rather use sth else(eg. "yes,indeed") to confirm that he has been there before, do you agree? And do you think I could consequently call it an ill-formed utterance, because it doesn't obbey the rule of a native speaker grammar?

    Yes, in that context "Of course" would mean what you said.
    You could also say "But of course!", which means "You really don't need to ask!" and can still sound snobbish, but not as arrogant.
