Smooth sailing into the New Year 2019
That sounds a great deal like a variant of "guten Rutsch," which, at least in AE, would simply be replaced with something like "Happy new year." (Yes, horror of horrors, even if it is before midnight on the 31st. We tend not to have any problem with wishing people "happy birthday" or "happy new year" before the clock strikes twelve.) Dictionary: guten rutsch
If something like that suggestion were to be used, then "Smooth sailing into 2019" were be more idiomatic, but I still would suggest something closer to RES-can's suggestion.
OT: I'm already dreading the upcoming jobs of how to say "Happy Holidays" in 20 different ways! (Not to mention how to deal with the various forms of Advent greetings that aren't much used in the English-speaking context (at least outside of churches that follow the traditional church year).
