A possible translation would be "greatest possible extent", but I question whether this entry is necessary.

In any case the currently suggested "applicable extent" must be wrong because it größtmöglich is a superlative and doesn't imply anything about applicability.

I only get 61 hits for "größtmöglicher Umfang" and 263 for "größtmögliche Umfang". There are 14,400 hits for "größtmöglichen Umfang", most of which occur in the phrase listed in dict.cc: "im größtmöglichen Umfang".

If anything, it seems to me the more commonly occuring "im größtmöglichen Umfang" should be listed.

I don't agree with the dict.cc "highest possible".

Ich kriege jedes Mal wieder Probleme, wenn ich "applicable" übersetzen muss. "Anwendbar"? "Wo/wenn anwendbar"? "Alle möglichen"? Oft klingt alles blöd und man muss eine riesige Wortkonstruktion aus diesem einen Wort bauen. Ich werde mir "größtmöglich" als Idee jedenfalls merken, vielleicht passt es mal.

@Mattes: "größtmöglich" steht aber nur im Zusammenhang mit "Umfang" als Übersetzung für "applicable extent" drin.

Kannst Du Dir einen Kontext vorstellen, in dem diese Paarung richtig ist? Und einen, in dem "applicable" wirklich mit "größtmöglich" übersetzt werden kann?

Im Moment fält mir dazu nichts ein, Dragon. Ich wollte auch mehr über "applicable" meckern als dir widersprechen :-)

So schlimm finde ich das Wort gar nicht, Mattes ;o)
Oft passt doch "ggf." oder "zutreffend".
