    In German it's also a Teesieb; but this (also sometimes spoon-shaped or on a chain) is not a tea strainer I'd say. ?

    It is not repeat not a tea strainer. A tea strainer is used to prevent tea leaves from getting into your tea cup:

    An infuser is used inside the teapot for infusing the tea.

    @6: Also ist ein "tea strainer" nur ein "Schutz" beim Ausgießen, wenn man eben kein Tee-Ei/Tee-Sieb verwendet hat? Damit nur die Flüssigkeit, aber nicht die Blätter in der Tasse landen?

    Es gibt auch Teekannen mit Riesensieb, das man nach erfolgtem Teebereiten entfernt, und "Filtertüten", die man in eine Halterung einhängt, die den gleichen Zweck erfüllen.

    Aber ein "strainer" hält nur Blätter zurück, damit sie nicht in die Tasse gelangen.
