daraus deutsch (veraltet) Offizin = Büro, Werkstätte

und natürlich englisch "office"!

Laut New Oxford Dictionary of English stammt engl. "office" nicht von "officina" ab, sondern von "officium - 'performance of a task"'.

Dasselbe gilt (nach Palazzi/Folena) für italien. "uffizio/ufficio".

Personal experience: The term is seldom used in current German, but it was often used in the German of the DDR. Every publication carried a state license and designation of the printer. In all of the books I have from the DDR, the printing establishment is referred to as "Offizin" ("Offizin Andersen Nexö," for example.

Most pharmacies in the US have a sign saying "Pharmacist in Charge", and chain stores also tell you which pharmacist is "on duty" at a particular time.
