Sammy, "verschlampen" is transitive, but "to get muddled up" isn't, is it?

Marwil, du könntest sagen, "they've managed to lose so many CDs", wobei durch das "manage" die Schuld der Abteilung klar angedeutet ist. (insofern man etwas klar andeuten kann)...

To get muddled up was just a thought, but I realised it might not be right at all or in the context, and I am glad to be corrected. It seems that the word means that the CDs have actually gone missing, rather than just got into a mess. I like the "manage".

Actually it was meant transitively: "To get the CDs muddled up" or (stronger) "To get the CDs all muddled up". One can use it of oneself: "I have got muddled up" - but I think you would understand "I have got myself muddled up."

"Verschlampen" - "to carelessly misplace or lose"

In English you sometimes have to use more words than one to translate the meaning of one German word. "Verschlampen" would translate better as "to carelessly misplace" or "to carelessly lose".
